MEP 2040 Challenge
We are proud to support the MEP 2040 Commitment, the industry’s pledge to eliminate embodied carbon in building systems and achieve net-zero operational carbon by 2040.
At ProspectSV, we’re committed to accelerating the adoption of clean technologies that transform the way we build, move, and power our communities. Our mission is to bring forward new decarbonization concepts and solutions through our work in research, innovation, and technical assistance to communities.
MEP systems account for a significant portion of a building’s lifecycle carbon emissions, but we know that can change. We’re working to advance innovation in low-carbon materials, low-GWP refrigerants, circular design, and smart building technology. The MEP 2040 Commitment creates a clear pathway toward healthier, more sustainable, and more resilient buildings.
The MEP 2040 Challenge was issued in the fall of 2021 by the Carbon Leadership Forum, calling on “all systems engineers to advocate for and achieve net zero carbon in their projects, operational carbon by 2030 and embodied carbon by 2040.” Similar to visionary efforts like Architecture 2030 and SE 2050, the MEP 2040 vision recognizes the need to better understand and holistically track the emissions footprint of MEPTL materials and favor those with reduced, net zero, or regenerative emissions. In response to this challenge, the ProspectSV team joins the ranks of visionary organizations supporting this movement.
OUR COMMITMENT INCLUDES:
Establish a company plan to reduce operational and embodied carbon across our mission
Focus on low-GWP refrigerant technologies in our research and technical assistance programs
Help to shape Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for emerging solutions we work to develop
Participate in MEP 2040 forums and discussion groups
